Before heading back to Melbourne I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Cambridge. Famous because of Cambridge University the town is about 1.5 hours from London by train.
The first hing you notice about Cambridge is the bikes everywhere. There are very few cars as most residents ride around the small city. If you don’t get run over by a local on a bike or at least suffered a near miss then you haven’t had the full Cambridge experience.
The other fun thing to do in Cambridge is go for a Punt along the river Cam. I strongly suggest that you get yourself a guide who can take you down the river. You’ll learn loads about the town and won’t suffer the embarrassment of having to muddle your way round in circles.
There were a lot of tourists struggling to even stay in a straight line and I watch one poor tourist going around in Circles for nearly 15 minutes. The added attraction is that most of the punters are fit young university men in quite short shorts and loose shirts. They are the “Jocks” of the University.
The best punters are down away from the bridge at the end of the boardwalk. The guys closer to the bridge are a little bit too aggressive on the sale but they are hot.
