Mind the Gap.

I’ve been so busy with work these past few weeks and getting my life in London sorted out that a lot of the things I normally do have slipped through the gap, including the blog, instagram, twitter, gym and a bunch of other stuff.

I have always been a person who needs routine, I struggle when my life gets turned upside down which seems to happen a lot. For someone who doesn’t deal with change very well I seem to be pretty good at bringing it in to my life, sailing trips, travel, break ups and new experiences all bring chaos.

When big changes are happening and there are new experiences to discover what’s really important to us can slip through the gap as we prioritize career or family etc. We put a lot of ourselves on hold or in the cupboard while we adjust.

It doesn’t just happen during move’s or a change in work routine, it also happens in relationships, traveling, death and every other aspect of our lives . At times like these I find that it’s easy to get a little bit down because I feel like I am putting pieces of myself on hold. When this happens I take photos because art and photography are at the core of who I am it helps to center me again.

So when you feel like pieces of you are falling through the gap, stop, take a moment to focus on something you love again and find your centre.

This week is a bit of a whirlwind for me, I’ll be working well in to the morning but I am loving every second on the job. I get tired and I haven’t had much time for anything else but this morning an extra few hours sleep and shave did remarkable things to make me feel human again. It should be easier to blog this week too because I’ll have a little more free time before work.

Sometimes I find myself straddling the gap that I become unaware of all that is falling through. Worse, is the ability to become unaware of the presence of the gap. There’s a huge penalty for that error in unawareness.

PS, while it’s good being busy just remember every now and then you have to take time for yourself.
