Home again.

IMG_3743Well everyone, I am home again and a lot has happened since I last wrote about arriving in Gladstone. I still have the rest of my sailing adventure to tell you about including reaching our destination Fraser Island, getting nude on the beach, bushwalking in my jockstrap, engine troubles and a hot country boy rugby player.

The trip home was uneventful but as soon as I got back nearly a week ago I was struck down with a stomach virus, which I am only now just starting to see the end of. It has made writing and editing photo’s almost impossible and even now I am struggling with my energy levels. It has also made coming home feel like a little bit of an anti climax because I haven’t been able to do all the things that I had planned. Luckily I should be able to get stuck in to them next week. I was really looking forward to getting home because there are so many interesting things that I have planned including a new book that I wanted to get started on straight away.

I have moved out of my old digs near the city and in to a temporary spot out of the city in the suburbs. This is going to be a huge change for me in lifestyle again but it will be only until next march. Something really big is coming up but I can’t tell you what it is, yet.

There is also a lot to write about in the aftermath of my trip too, I’ve spent six weeks on the move without the gym or workouts and it’s made me realize some really important things about my own body image and how I think of myself. There are also a few things that I have discovered about aging and my own fears and hang ups that I want to share with you too. So there is lots to share and I’m keen to get back to it as soon as I can.

Shannon, I imagine you might have expected some sort of catharsis in heading out to sea, and are experiencing as much of one having returned home. Only to find that after 6 weeks, and a move as soon as you unpacked, that “home” is as new and transitory a place as a little boat… In your first new post to YouTube, it really seemed to be hitting you, almost as if you couldn’t put your reflections into words. Except you then shot and posted 3 more vlogs! Welcome back.
