Goldcoast Sunshine.

IMG_4884While Melbourne bakes in a heat wave I am enjoying the sunshine and blue skies up here on the Gold Coast. I’m here for the week working and so far it’s been a pretty busy time. I have the days pretty much to myself and then work until late in the evening. Staying in the Casino is pleasant enough even though the internet here is from the 1990’s.

I’ve spent a lot of time on the Gold Coast in the last few years and it never surprises me how many hot guys there are up here. What is it with this place? It must the be the sun and the beach that gets so many guys here out in the surf or hiking around the bush. I swear If I see another hot high vis tradie my head will explode ( high vis is Aussie slang because of the high visibility clothing tradies wear).

For those of you who follow me on twitter and enjoy my Meanwhile in Australia tweets, nearly 90% of the guys I post are Gold Coast boys.

I experienced the same thing in Sydney too. That kind of natural beauty that is honed by a life time of good living and exercise rather than hours and hours at the gym. Many of them work hard at the gym too I am sure but there is a lot to be said for an active lifestyle.

When I was living in Sydney I was in the best shape of my life, hitting the surf, swimming, hiking around Bondi and Bronte nearly everyday and training with the lifesavers. The milder climate certainly makes it easier. Staying motivated in Melbourne in the winter is certainly challenging.

Even though work is draining it’s great to be out of the house and out of Melbourne. Things are always a bit quite around this time of the year and it’s easy to fall in to a lazy streak. Cabin fever was also beginning to set in. The one good thing that has come from being so busy is that I haven’t been as depressed. Keeping busy and keeping my mind busy is a great way to manage how I’m feeling.

So there’s not much else to report I’m afraid. It’s going to be a boring week. I’m hoping to get out in the next few days to take some photos around the beaches, until then it’s selfies in the hotel room.
