Aussies, I know the desire to share your Yes vote on your social media accounts will be strong over then next couple of weeks but the ABS has warned against it.
Posting a picture of your survey with your personal details on it could leave you open to identity theft and voter fraud.
Each Survey has a unique barcode on it that corresponds to your details on the electoral role. If this barcode was reproduced on a counterfeit survey form and marked no, then it would invalidate your own vote if it’s received back by the ABS before your genuine one. Get it?
Also do not put glitter or anything else inside your envelope as this will also invalidate your vote as will crossing out or changing the wording of the survey.
It is super important that we get this right brothers and sisters. Lets make it happen.
