So yet again I had fully planned to blog every day last week and, well it’s obvious how that worked out.
I have just spent the last 4 days in Sydney for a combination of work and play. Fortunately for me work and play are often the same thing. At first I wasn’t going to make the trip. I thought that it might be the wrong time with things being so busy at home to go away and take on yet more work. I guess that I am still finding my limits when it comes to just how much I can do in the finite time that I have.
I’ve been so focussed on my dream that I have been a bit of a glutton saying yes to just about everything that comes my way… It’s a good thing although I have learning very quickly that I am not a good manager of my time. I should be working even now but I am writing this instead.
I headed up to Sydney last Thursday and had the chance to catch up with Alex who is just about the hottest (see Alex I know you hate being called cute ) boy in Sydney. I met him at Mardi Gras earlier this year. It was nice to finally have the chance to hangout properly. Dinner in the Noodle Markets in Hyde park was a most excellent way to start my time in Sydney. For those of you not from Sydney the Noodle Markets are a great part of the food and Wine festival. They are outdoors in Hyde Park and are just loverly at this time of year. Imagine a park filled with paper lanterns and wonderful food smells coloured lights and a gentle breeze.
Friday was a work day… and a very long day at that. I ended up going clubbing afterwards, something that I don’t really enjoy anymore but it was nice to head out for a dance. I think I am getting grumpy in my old age. I hate having to deal with drunk people, spilt drinks, cigarette burns, people stepping on my shoes and smoke. Give me a glass of red, a good movie and a snuggie any day.
Saturday I headed up the coast with one of my best GF’s. I inherited her from a previous Ex and she is amazing. I got to spend 2 days on the Central Coast in Umina and on Pearl beach taking photos. I slept like a log both nights and feel amazing and refreshed. We even managed to slip in a cocktail. A new recipe made up from Coconut water, vodka, lime and a strawberry. Yum. Use it to wash down some fresh local Oysters and prawns and you have a winning combination. I even got to eat some bananas that were under $5 a kilo. I also discovered salt and pepper cashew nuts are amazing. Yes when I go away I tend to eat, I think the sea air had something to do with it too.
Then It was back today for a quick walk around Bondi and lunch with a friend before jumping on the plane and returning to Melbourne.
So that’s the quick sum up of my weekend away, it’s not particularly funny, informative or inspiring. I don’t want to peak too early in the week
Stay tuned
