So I am back in Melbourne after a whirlwind tour of Perth. A few of you have commented that I should get out of my hotel room and look around the places that I am visiting. Sadly I have been away for work and I literally only have time to work and sleep. Fortunately because of the traveling time and the 3 hour time difference we had some rest time factored in to our visit on the first day.
Perth although small is a beautiful city and interestingly takes the crown for the most isolated city in the world. That means that it is the furthest city from any other large urban center in the world.
It’s on the far west coast of Australia and takes about 3 hours to get there by plane.
I had a small amount of time to walk around in the sunshine and clear my cold ridden head (yes I have a cold again). I even managed to snap a few shots on my phone to share with you all.
For those of you reading in America, Fremantle which is in Perth is the spot where Australia stuck it to the New York Yacht Club in 1983 and broke their 132 year winning streak taking the Americas Cup.
The race inspired our Prime Minister to drunkenly proclaim on that day
“Any boss that sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum”
One of the things that I noticed about Perth was that many of it’s old building have been preserved beautifully. The guys are also HOT, I think I almost strained my neck a couple of times and the Sunshine there is glorious.
I was really nice to get out of Melbourne although I will say that I am well and truly over the traveling. It’s been nearly 12 weeks now and I have had only 1 weekend to myself to hang with my friends and go to the gym and the pool. Our next stop is New Zealand, specifically Christchurch. I am really looking forward to this trip. It’s the last stop for me and I an interested to see how different it is to last year. There have been more earth quakes since I was there last and the damage is much worse.
The fatigue finally caught up with me last week and I struggled to get through the week. I found myself neglecting a lot of the tasks I had set myself, including the blog. But I am back now. The sun is shining and I am sitting on my bed enjoying a few quiet moments to write this post.
